The New Martinsville Public Library is putting the “fun” in fundraiser with its new campaign titled “The Next Chapter: Community Giving Drive.”
The library is seeking donations through Aug. 16 leading up to National Non-Profit Day.
It is hoping to raise at least $1,000. Any donation amount helps, but the library’s director, Sarah Jackson, is sweetening the pot by facing some challenges in exchange for dollars.
“Each donation milestone unlocks a new outrageous challenge for our brave library director,” the library notes on its social media. “How far will you take it?
For example, at $100, the director will have a “Wacky Wig Day” and wear a “ridiculous” wig all day. At $250, the director will take a ” Pie in the Face.” At $400, there will be a Costume Takeover, an all-day dress-up at the front desk. At $600, there will be a mystery food test; people can pick the “weird” combinations and the director will eat them. At $800, the director will kiss a real pig. At $1,000, people can “Dunk the Director” in a dunk tank.
“Every dollar supports the acquisition of new books, funds programs for all ages, brings in larger community events, updates technology and tools for learning, and just builds up the library to be the pillar of support this town needs,” the library team noted.
People can also sponsor a book shelf for $25 or adopt a birthday book for $10. The summer book sale is also underway through Aug. 16.
“We want our library to be a staple in this community. We want to support our patrons with the very best. We are doing what we can to the best of our ability on our end but knowing that our friends and neighbors want to see us grow into our full potential means the world,” the library team added.
“We want you involved in what happens within the stacks. We are open to suggestions from book acquisitions to programs to landscaping ideas.
“Any amount, big or small helps. Anything you can do, talking to you coworkers, friends and neighbors, sharing our posts online, interacting with us, or just stopping in to say hello, helps. “We want to be here to help you whenever you need it.
“So thank you. We know that New Martinsville cares about its people. We know you all show up and love each other. We just want to be able to spread that love too.”
