Wetzel County Circuit Court Docket Day Hearings Held For New Indictments

The Wetzel County Circuit Court’s docket day for the new term of court was held May 28 with Judge Richard Wilson presiding over the following hearings involving new indictments.

Mark McCoy Haverty of Davis, W.Va., was arraigned on a charge of allegedly fleeing in a vehicle from an officer, showing reckless indifference. His bond was already revoked for allegedly failing a drug test in Tucker County. Judge Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. He also set a trial date of 9 a.m. July 8. Haverty’s attorney is David White. Wetzel County Prosecutor Timothy Haught is representing the state.

Haverty allegedly fled in a Ford F-150 Raptor on W.Va. 20 from Wetzel County Sheriff’s Department Detective Gary Glasscock, who had activated his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. Haverty allegedly showed reckless indifference to the safety of others by driving at high rates of speed, passing vehicles in no-passing zones.

Myron Hoyt Helmick was arraigned and he pleaded not guilty. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. His attorney is David White. Haught is representing the state.

Carl Henry Haught Jr., 46, of Smithfield, W.Va., pleaded not guilty to a 10-count felony indictment related to alleged sexual crimes against a child. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. His attorney is David White. Wetzel County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft represents the state. Alleged charges against Haught Jr. include three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree for allegedly touching the minor’s breasts through her clothing with his hands; three counts of sexual abuse by a custodian for allegedly touching the minor’s breasts through her clothing with his hands; one count of display to minor obscene matter for allegedly showing the minor a video of two adults engaged in sexually explicit conduct; one count of sexual abuse in the first degree for allegedly touching the minor’s buttocks through her clothing with his hands; one count of sexual abuse by a custodian for allegedly touching the minor’s buttocks through her clothing with his hands; and one count of soliciting a minor by means other than via a computer for allegedly asking if the minor “wanted to have some fun” after allegedly touching the child’s breasts with his hands. The alleged crimes occurred during the months of July 2024 and September 2024.

Timothy Scott Shannon II, 42, of Paden City pleaded not guilty to an eight-count indictment related to drugs. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. His attorney is White. Haught is representing the state. Alleged charges against Shannon include one count of alleged conspiracy to transport controlled narcotic substances, fentanyl, into the state; one count of alleged transporting controlled narcotic substances, fentanyl, into the state; one count of alleged conspiracy to transport controlled narcotic substances, heroin, into the state; one count of alleged transporting controlled narcotic substances, heroin, into the state; one count of alleged possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl, with intent to deliver; one count of alleged possession of a controlled substance, heroin, with intent to deliver; one count of alleged possession of a controlled narcotic substance, fentanyl, with intent to deliver; and one count of alleged possession of a controlled substance, xylazine, with intent to deliver. All allegedly occurred on or about July 17, 2024, and on or about Dec. 27, 2024.

Billy Joe Barnette, 52, pleaded not guilty to a charge of allegedly failing to update his sex offender registry information on or before March 15, 2025. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. His attorney is Roger Curry. Haught is representing the state. According to the one-count indictment, Barnette, who is required to register as a sex offender for life, allegedly knowingly failed to provide a change in any required information. He allegedly failed or refused to report a change to the West Virginia State Police from his registered address in New Martinsville to his new address at 156 Burlington Road, New Martinsville.

Kristi Rhena Fox, 41, of New Martinsville pleaded not guilty to drug charges.Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. Fox is charged with the alleged offenses of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver between Feb. 8 and 16, 2025. A second and third count in the indictment alleges possession with intent to deliver fentanyl and possession with intent to deliver xylazine.

Crystal Lynne Glik, 42, pleaded not guilty to drug related charges. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. She is charged with the alleged felony offense of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver occurring on or about March 18, 2025.

Dora Mae Glendenning pleaded not guilty to drug-related charges. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. The alleged charges include two counts of conspiracy to possess a controlled substance, methamphetamine, with intent to deliver and two counts of conspiracy to possess a controlled narcotic substance, cocaine, with intent to deliver. The alleged crimes occurred on or about May 22, 2024.

Kyle Anthony Rice, 25, of New Martinsville pleaded not guilty to charges related to theft. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. A trial date of July 8 was set. Haught is prosecuting the case. Andy Mendelson is Rice’s attorney. The eight-count indictment includes one count of grand larceny for allegedly stealing tools, chainsaw, hedge trimmers and a Honda side by side between Oct. 16, 2024, and Nov. 5, 2024; one count of grand larceny for allegedly stealing a Polaris side by side and an “old timer knife” on or about Nov. 24, 2024; one count of entry of a building other than a dwelling for allegedly entered a garage that belongs to another man; one count of fleeing in a vehicle from an officer, showing reckless indifference for allegedly fleeing from an officer on a Polaris side by side on Paden Fork Road, driving at high rates of speed and nearly colliding with an ambulance on or about Nov. 24, 2024; one count of attempted grand larceny for allegedly stealing a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado belonging to another man on or about Nov. 24, 2024; one count of grand larceny for allegedly stealing a 2023 Yamaha R Max side by side on or about Nov. 24, 2024; one count of felony destruction of property for allegedly destroying a 2023 Yamaha R Max side by side on or about Nov. 24, 2025; and one count of fleeing on foot from an officer for allegedly fleeing from an officer who was trying to lawfully detain him.

Shasta Nicole Jones, 28, of Sistersville pleaded not guilty to charges related to transporting drugs. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. The six-count includes one count of conspiracy to transport controlled narcotic substances, fentanyl, into the state for allegedly transporting the drugs from Pennsylvania into West Virginia; one count of transporting controlled narcotic substances, fentanyl, into the state; one count of conspiracy to transport controlled narcotic substances, heroin, into the state; one count of transporting controlled narcotic substances, heroin, into the state; one count of possession of a controlled narcotic substance, fentanyl, with intent to deliver; and one count of possession of a controlled narcotic substance, heroin, with intent to deliver.

Kayla Amanda Quinn pleaded not guilty to fraud-related charges. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. Roger Curry is her attorney. The 18-count indictment alleges fraudulent use of an access device. It alleges Quinn used a woman’s bank card without permission to make purchases at various businesses across Wetzel County.

Christopher Michael Morgan, 43, of Burton pleaded not guilty to a two-county indictment. Wilson set a pre-trial hearing for 1:15 p.m. June 24. Haught is prosecuting the case. Mendelson is Morgan’s attorney. One count is for alleged driving while revoked for DUI third of subsequent offense and the other for alleged fleeing from a law enforcement officer. Both allegedly occurred on or about April 13, 2025.
