Community Awards Dinner Honors Individuals, Businesses

Ten people were honored for their contributions to society during the annual Community Awards dinner held May 14 in New Martinsville.
Hosted by the Wetzel Tyler Chamber of Commerce, the awards kicked off with 32 individuals and businesses nominated in a variety of categories
The top winners were recognized during the event and given plaques with their names on it.
The 2025 Community Award winners included:
Educator of the Year – Kasey Sapp;
Business of the Year – Barth’s Florist;
Nonprofit of the Year – Helping Hands Food Pantry;
Volunteer of the Year – Cody and Kevin Neff;
Youth Leader of the Year – Jasmine Henthorn;
Employee of the Year – Betty Hartline;
First Responder of the Year – Guard Dickens IV;
Community Leader of the Year – Jill Ash; and
Driven to Make a Difference – Logann Kehrer.
Other nominees included: Scott Beaver, Samantha Smith, William Bell, Mollie Toppe, Poor Daddy’s Wood Fired Pizza, The Mustard Seed Arts Academy, Terry Steele, Lindsey Gray, Chef Gary Cardelein, Gary Glasscock, Ben Anderson, April Pierce, Fun Fitness with Tasha, Cindy Powell, Peggy Loub, Darrell Mayfield, Amy Goddard and Caitlyn Neff, Steve Riesbeck, Fortney Electric, Nicole Manuel and Sarah Jackson.
The dinner menu, provided by Carrie’s Catering, included baked chicken, lemon pepper chicken, smoked pulled pork, meatless rigatoni, parsley potatoes, green beans and salad. A charcuterie board was provided by Happenings.
