New Martinsville/Paden City Thespians Present The Play That Goes Wrong December 6-8

By Staff | Dec 4, 2024

The Rising Phoenix Guild rehearses for "The Play That Goes Wrong."

Rising Phoenix Guild, the combined theater efforts of New Martinsville and Paden City middle and high school students, will present The Play That Goes Wrong Dec. 6-8 at Magnolia High School.

This play will offer a fun time of theatrical hijinks. If anything could go wrong, it probably will. But it will just leave its audience laughing at the misfortune.

Each show is opening night of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show–an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Nevertheless, the accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences!

This show will be produced by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service (https://www.dramatists.com/).

This Rising Phoenix Guild production is directed by Miss Rebecca Buck with Student Assistant Director: Mackenzie McNeil.

The play features Brenna Clark and Abbie Tennant as Chris, Mackenzie Simpkins as Annie, Haven Anderson as Taylor, Jana Hartline as Jonathan, Reese Hendershot as Robert, Tad Wanstall as Dennis, Victorino Valentine as Max, and Joellen Witschey as Sandra. Stage crew consists of Lydia Wells, Lily Anderson, Emersyn Glasscock, Gabbie Butler, Jade Rogers, Kyler Lyons, Ty Knight, Adrian Long, Izzy Anderson, Jessie Highley, Wesley Wallace, Vanessa Cogar, Vince Ebert, and Cayden Davis. Stage manager is Addison Yeager. Zadok Glendenning and Ridge Gatian are the lighting crew. Jessica Beavin and Ashlyn Walters are on sound.

Stagings of The Play That Goes Wrong are Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 7 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the door: $5 for students or $8 for adults. For more information call 304-455-1990 ext. 528.
