Lego Club Hosts Special Guest
The Paden City Library hosts a Lego club once a month. This month special guest Steve Strother from Marble King joined club host Brian Rogers. Before getting started Strother and Rogers told the kids what they like about Legos. Rogers said “Even though you are having fun you are always learning new things.” Strother followed with “Playing with Legos is one of my fondest memories as a child and I was able to do something I loved as a kid with my own daughter. When she was little, we played with Legos like the SpongeBob set when she was a kid, and we still sometimes build with them to this day.” After the brief introduction for this month’s task the kids were given the task to make a marble maze. This was in honor of celebrating Marble King turning 75 years old. Before starting their mazes, the kids were given a Lego base plate and then all gathered a box full of Legos and the fun began. The kids all started placing the blocks and building their own little mazes each trying to make theirs to be the best one. While the kids were building Strother passed out bags of marbles made from Marble King. He told the kids “When we send out into the world we are sending a small part of Paden City with them.” The kids were able to keep these beautiful glass marbles and send them through their maze to make sure it was completed and the marbles were able to fit through their paths or even get stuck in any traps they may have put in their mazes. Once all the mazes were complete the kids one by one brought their mazes to Strother so he could try them out himself. Everyone had such an amazing maze he couldn’t pick just one as a favorite all the kids were winners! They were able to pick between taking home their maze or trading the maze in for a different Lego prize. This was a fun and educational event for all who attended. The next Lego Club will be held December 12th and all are invited to attend. This is a free event to attend all you need to do is show up! There is also giveaways that happen on the Paden City Lego Club Group on Facebook for those who are in the club.
