Over 150 years ago, on June 11, 1869, Jacob Miller Huffman married Mary Eleanor Truex in Woodsfield, OH. They went on to have eleven children.

Elizabeth Mae (Lizzie), Charley, Clifford Chris, Emmett Jay, Jacob Carl, Lola Nan, Harvey Clyde, Cecil French, Lele Beryl, Lesco Fern, and Vera Marie.

Many or most of these folks resided in the Woodsfield, Paden City, or New Martinsville area.

I am Roy Emmett Huffman and Emmett Jay Huffman was my grandfather.

I recently connected with Mary Sue (Plants) Kincaid. Her grandmother, Lizzie, married Gibson Moses Gorrell in 1903. Cousin Mary Sue shared how she used to take the train, by herself, (8-10 years old) from her home in Point Pleasant, WV to visit her Paden City relatives. Her mother was raised in Paden City and rode the trolley to New Martinsville schools in the late 1920’s.

Mary Sue and I began to wonder how many Jacob Huffman relatives continue to reside in the area. We are considering having a Jacob Huffman Family Reunion this summer in the Paden City area.
