PCHS Students Benefit from Hackathorn Fund
Some students at Paden City High School have benefited recently from the Martha Hackathorn Vocational Scholastic Fund administering through the Paden City Foundation, Inc. The fund was established by the family of the late Martha Hackathorn as a way help students enrolled in vocational classes defray some of the costs associated with equipment needed to complete the course. The fund started benefiting students at PCHS during the 2021-2022 school year and continues this year with three recipients from the fall semester.
Three PCHS students enrolled in Diagnostic Services and Advanced Medical classes at the Mid Ohio Valley Tech Institute in St. Marys received reimbursement from the Hackathorn for medical equipment. These include Haley Walton, McKenzie Thomas and Carlee Sweeney.
The Hackathorn fund is one of several funds administered by the Paden City Foundation, Inc. Several serve as vehicles to provide scholarships for students at Paden City High School and others benefit the school’s athletic department, the music department while others benefit the townsá public library, the volunteer fire company, the municipal park and pool and other community-based organizations. The Foundation also owns and maintains the Paden City Museum and is also raising funds for the replacement of the town’s Christmas decorations when the current ones need replacement.
