A Wetzel County man, Robert Mark “Bo” Raber Jr., 30, of Burton, was one of the five victims of Shayne Riggleman of Morgantown on Sept. 5.

Raber was found dead along with 49-year-old Charles Richardson III; his wife, 50-year-old Karin Richardson; her children, 17-year-old Kevin Hudson and 22-year-old Katrina Hudson in the Richardson home on Sugar Grove Road just west of Morgantown, W.Va., Monday evening. Katrina was Raber’s fiance who was pregnant with their daughter, Alexis Paige Raber, according to his obituary.

They were apparently shot by Riggleman who went on a violent spree that left two others injured and ended with him taking his own life when he was stopped by authorities in Kentucky. Riggleman, who was reportedly bipolar and not taking his medication, was apparently upset at his former girlfriend, Britt Harwood, who was living in the Richardson home after breaking up with Riggleman.

According to Riggleman’s Facebook, one of his favorite quotations was “I ain’t goin’ out without a fight. I’m with whatever. it WILL be YOUR LIFE before MY LIFE.” He had also posted just prior to the killings, “I mate for life like a praying mantis.”

Riggleman also ran down a woman in Pennsylvania and shot a gas station attendant in the neck in Amma, W.Va. Both survived.

Raber was the son of Robert Mark Raber Sr. of New Jersey and Rhonda Jean Jones and husband Jeffrey Layman of Hundred.

He liked to hunt, ride 4-wheelers, and spend time with his son Kaleb and his nieces.

He also enjoyed cooking and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was employed at Blue Mountain Engineering and also worked as an Auto-Technician at Walmart. He attended North Marion High School.

Funeral services for him were held Saturday at the Masters Funeral Home, Mannington.
