Eagles Stung By ‘Jackets

By Staff | Sep 7, 2011

Nick Blatt hauled in 11 Tanner Hanna passes for 130 yards, but it wasn’t enough as the defending class-AA champions Magnolia Blue Eagles fell to the Williamstown Yellowjackets, 41-14, in Williamstown Sept. 2.

The Blue Eagles fumbled on their opening play and Williamstown would make Magnolia pay with a TD. The Yellowjackets would also bring back two Hanna passes for TDs that proved to be the difference in the game.

Hanna scored on a one-yard TD, while Stephen Rogalski scored on a 67-yard pass from Hanna. Michael Jones split the uprights on both touchdowns for all the Blue Eagle scoring.

On the ground, Jayson Keller was held to 34 yards on 11 carries, while hauling in a pass for a dozen yards. Kage Rohde netted 13 yards rushing. Blatt caught a career-high 11 passes for 130 yards, while Rogalski contributed 134 yards on seven receptions.

Defensively, Rohde, Ryan Walton, and Billy O’Neil paced the Eagles with 11 tackles each, while O’Neil hauled down the Yellowjacket quarterback in the backfield for a sack.

The Eagles will travel to Kidwell Friday, Sept. 9, to take on Tyler Consolidated at 7:30 p.m. in a battle of adjacent-county rivals.
