Blue Eagle Male Booters Claim 11-1 Win Over Potters
The Eagles’ Oscar Celedon heated up the MHS Hydro Soccer Field by scoring four goals en route to a convincing 11-1 victory over the East Liverpool Potters in New Martinsville, Sept. 3.
Michael Jones got the Blue Eagles in the scoring column first when he took a pass from Caleb McCune in the fourth minute of the match. Celedon put the ball in the back of the net on a nice assist by Chase Croasmun seven minutes later.
MHS mid-fielder Evan Heslep took a pass from Jones and knocked it past a diving Potter goalkeeper to give the home team a quick 3-0 lead. However, the Eagles weren’t done scoring in the first half. Mid-field wing Joey Culley got a nice through ball by Jesse Long and sent it home with five minutes remaining to push the Blue Eagle advantage to 4-0 at the break.
Celedon scored two quick goals, with assists by Soren Shade, on the latter tally. Four minutes later, Long sent one in the back of the net from 18 yards out, with an assist by Jones.
Shade quickly pushed the score to 8-0 when he sent one sailing past the Potter goalie with assist from Frankie Grilli. Heslep tallied an unassisted goal before East Liverpool got on the board a minute later. However, Celedon and Jones each tallied unassisted goals a few moments later to end the game, 11-1 for their second victory of the season against two losses and two ties.
“We are playing with confidence right now, and the boys are showing that they can play right with the big boys in the higher classes,” said MHS Head Coach Brian Croasmun.
The Eagles visited Steubenville Catholic on Sept. 6 and Morgantown Trinity Sept. 10 before hosting Steubenville at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Eagles’ Hydro Field.
