Bluegrass Festival Will Benefit Veterans

By Staff | Aug 24, 2011

The Hart Brothers

It is that time of the year for great bluegrass music! The sixth annual Veteran’s Bluegrass Festival will be held this weekend, Aug. 26-27, 1-11 p.m. The big event is located four miles north of Hundred on Route 250 at the Field of Dreams.

Again this year there will be some great bluegrass groups: Bluegrass 409, Hillbilly Gypsies, Lonesome Heart, The Hart Brothers, and Limited Edition. There will also be open mic time. It will be great music to sit back and enjoy!

There will be plenty of food and refreshments, a 50/50 drawing, and lots of door prizes. Rough camping is available and if firewood is needed, it can be purchased for a small fee. No alcohol, glass bottles, or pets near the stage area.

Many families enjoyed the music last year, sometimes three generations of families! You’ll find tents and some seating, but it might be a good idea to bring your own chairs.

For the second year, Cars for the Veterans Car Show will take place on Aug. 27 at the Bluegrass Festival. Registration starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. Registration fee is $10 per entry. Great-looking dash plaques will be given to the first registrants. Trophies awarded at 4:30 p.m. Some classes are: Best Ford, Best Corvette, Best GMC, Best of Show, and Best Mopar.

Hillbilly Gypsies

This is a fund raiser for the Veterans. Proceeds benefit active service and Veterans’ programs. Come down and support our men and women, enjoy the music, and the beauty of West Virginia.
