Inmates and staff at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex (MOCC) have been very successful with fund raising programs. We have been doing this for our community for a long time and just in the last few months MOCC has partnered with Papa John’s Pizza for Operation Reach Out, partnered with FCC/Reach for Valley Community Playground, and this year, MOCC partnered with Mission West Virginia to raise monies for foster children living throughout the state of West Virginia in Children’s Homes a.k.a Children’s Home Society.

Fifty dollar gift cards were purchased for 45 children living in homes in the following areas: Charleston, Huntington, Logan, and Summersville.

Inmates at MOCC purchased food from Burger Carte in Smithers, W.Va., and Burger Carte donated 20 percent of the sales back. MOCC staff assisted with chaperoning the children as they made school clothing purchases at Huntington Mall. A lunch followed in Dunbar. The inmates who work in Arts/Crafts Program at MOCC have graciously committed to donating leather notebook folders and a handmade wooden pen for the Children’s Home Society. Administrators and staff at MOCC encourage the population to contribute to these fund raising efforts.
