Board Of Education Approves Personnel Matters

The Wetzel County Board of Education approved several matters during their Aug. 1 meeting. The following retirements, resignations, changes in assignment, and employment of county educators and staff are detailed alphabetically by school. Positions take effect at the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year, unless otherwise noted.

Hundred High School

Richard K. Boyles was approved for employment as Mathematics/Chemistry/Physics Teacher at HHS, pending certification.

Long Drain School

Davette M. Petrucci was approved for a change in assignment from Reading Intervention Teacher at LDS, to Fourth Grade Teacher at LDS.

Bernice J. Hornbeck was approved for a change in assignment from Countywide Supervisory Teacher Aide-Special Education (One-on-One) (503-D) based at LDS to Supervisory Teacher Aide-Kindergarten (502-C) at LDS.

Magnolia High School

Clinton E. Bruck (non-certified) was approved for employment as Assistant Boys’ Soccer Coach at MHS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

Brian J. Croasmun (non-certified) was approved for employment as Head Boys’ Soccer Coach at MHS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

New Martinsville School

Lorna A. Briggs was approved for a change in classification from Custodian III (683-C), 228-day contract at NMS, to Custodian IV (684-D), 228-day contract at NMS, effective Aug. 1.

Roger L. Hindman was approved for a change in assignment from Daytime Custodian III (683-C), 228-day contract at SLS to Evening Custodian III (683-C), 228-day contract at NMS, effective July 29.

Barbara A. Cain was approved for a change in classification from Cook II (676-B) at NMS to Cook III (677-C) at NMS, effective Aug. 17.

Paden City Elementary School

Juliann M. Allman was accepted for resignation from her position as Kindergarten Teacher at PCES, effective July 27.

Mary K. Young was approved for a change in assignment from the Reduction-In-Force/ Preferred Recall List to Cook II (676-B) at PCES.

Paden City High School

Early G. Shreve was approved for a change in assignment from Custodian III (683-C) 261-day contract at NMS to Head Custodian/ Painter (635/684-E) 261-day contract at PCHS, effective Aug. 1.

Edward V. Amos (non-certified) was approved for employment as Head Golf Coach at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

Jessica L. Dotson (non-certified) was approved for employment as Assistant Girls’ Softball Coach at PCHS.

Jennifer L. West (non-certified) was approved for employment as Assistant Cheerleader Coach at PCHS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

Short Line School

Julie R. McCartney was approved for a change in assignment from Countywide Early Start/Pre-School Special Needs Teacher based at LDS, to Countywide/Itinerant Early Start/Pre-School Special Needs Teacher based at SLS.

Velma S. Hupp was approved for a change in assignment from Secretary III/Computer Operator (537/545-F), 220 day contract at LDS to Secretary III/Computer Operator (537/545-F), 220 day contract at SLS, effective Aug. 3.

Vickey L. Titus was approved for a change in assignment from Cook II (676-B) at PCES to Half-time Cook II (676-B) at SLS and Half-time Countywide Substitute Cook.

Barbara L. Yeager was approved for a change in assignment from Countywide Supervisory Teacher Aide-Early Start (502-C) based at LDS to Countywide/Itinerant Supervisory Teacher Aide-Early Start/Special Education (503-D) based at SLS.

Andrea M. Brewer (non-certified) was approved for employment a Athletic Trainer at SLS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

Michael J. Findling was approved for employment as Head Seventh/Eighth Grade Football Coach at SLS, effective the beginning of the 2011-2012 WVSSAC Season.

Valley High School

Jack E. Dakan was approved for resignation from his position as Assistant Football Coach at VHS, effective immediately.

Whitney N. Healy was approved for resignation from her position as half-time English Teacher at VHS, effective immediately.

Deanna L. Heasley was approved for employment as Half-time Countywide/Itinerant MI/LD/BD w/Autism Teacher based at VHS. She retains her half-time teaching position at VHS.

Howard M. Henderson was approved for retirement from the position as Vocational Agriculture Teacher at VHS, effective Aug. 20.

Adam N. Lemon was approved for employment as Countywide/Itinerant MI/LD/BD w/Autism Teacher based at VHS.

Michael S. Shank was approved for employment as Half-time Mathematics Teacher at VHS. He retains his half-time teaching position at MHS.

Wetzel County Center for Children and Families

Amy B. Petin was approved for employment as Countywide/Itinerant MI/LD/BD w/Autism Teacher based at WCCCF.

Countywide

Sarah E. Haught was accepted to resign from her position as Countywide Substitute Teacher, effective July 21.

Justina S. McGarvey and Pariksit Spicher were approved for employment as Countywide Substitute Teachers.

Stephanie L. Tison was accepted to resign from her position as Countywide Half-time ESL Teacher and Half-time Spanish Teacher at NMS and PCHS, effective July 19.

Regarding bus operating positions, Robert W. Greathouse was approved for resignation from his position as Bus Operator for the Silver Hill Bus Route, Bus No. 26, effective Aug. 1; and Evan M. Jobes was approved for resignation from his position as Bus Operator for Proctor/ Grandview/ North Paden City/WCCCF, Bus No. 46, effective July 22.

The following were approved for employment as Countywide Substitute Custodians, effective Aug. 2: John R. Cain, William L. Gainer, Megan M. Glover, Justin F. Herrick, and Marcy M. Murin.

Lastly, Richard A. Ritz was approved to resign from his position as Countywide Handyman, effective July 5.

The next board meeting will be Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. at the county office.
