Lisa and Troy Sidenstricker met with the Wetzel County Commission on Tuesday to share the good news that the county’s 4-H and FFA Livestock Clubs’ show arena and barn expansion project is complete, just in time for the upcoming Town and Country Days fair on the grounds.

Lisa had approached the commission in February of their proposal to add 48 feet between the barn and show arena areas, as well as add more seating and a wash pad. Funded solely by the clubs, the commission approved the proposal and gave the organizations the green light to start construction. It was reported at the Aug. 9 meeting that all of those plans came to fruition and cost roughly $7,500.

The commission asked the two about repair to the leach field. Troy stated it hadn’t been investigated but that he would look into the matter as soon after the fair as possible.

The commission expressed their thanks to the Sidenstrickers and all who volunteered for their time and hard work on this project.

The barn and show arena on the 4-H grounds are used throughout the year for workshops, demonstrations, camps, and the highly anticipated livestock show and auction held at Town and Country Days next week. All livestock will be showed Aug. 17 at 9 a.m. to be sold Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. There will be a buyer’s dinner before the sale at 6 p.m.
