By Staff | Jul 6, 2011

Brandon Cunning and The Stunning Cunning Band will perform at 3:45 and 8 p.m.

The 18th annual Wileyville Homecoming will begin in its traditional way Saturday with a parade at 10:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies will follow the parade, kicking off a day of fun, food, games, music, and reuniting.

While the children can enjoy games such as a duck pond and dime pitch, the adults can compete at horseshoes and Cinch. Also, cartoonist J.D. Williamson will be at the festival from 1-5 p.m., creating his unique artwork. There will also be many craft and flea market booths to visit. A Veterans Wall honoring those local residents who served the country will be on display as well.

This year’s entertainment schedule is packed full of fan favorites including Ron & Friends, noon; Hundred Miles from Nowhere, 12:45 p.m.; The Tharp Brothers, 1:45 p.m.; The Elson Family, 2:45 p.m.; Brandon Cunning and Band, 3:45 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Rockin River, 4:45 p.m.; Crossroads, 5:45 p.m., and The Price Family, 7 p.m.

Brandon Cunning and the Stunning Cunning Band have become a perennial favorite and headliner in recent years, making the journey from Memphis, Tenn.

Since the summer of 1993, Cunning has yet to be derailed from his mission of bringing rockabilly to a new generation. With his guitar playing, vocals, and stunning showmanship, it’s not hard to see and hear his influences of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Brian Setzer. Late in 2006, faced with a regional lack of interest in his 50s rock and roll music, Cunning relocated from his hometown of Washington, Pa., to Memphis, Tenn.–the birthplace of rock and roll. He soon put together The Stunning Cunning Band, a four-piece rockabilly band that has the groove that’ll make you move! Playing tribute to the original rock and roll legends, The Stunning Cunning Band set its collective sight on one thing–delivering incredible back-to-back hit songs in their natural state with a high energy show.

The band is fronted by the charismatic Brandon Cunning on guitar along with Steve Clark (stand up bass), Rick McFarland (drums), and Brian Stuhr (guitar). The Stunning Cunning Band pushes the limits of excitability to borderline good-time hysteria.

As always there will be many great foods to enjoy including their famous roast chicken, roast beef, roast pork, BBQ ribs, hot sausage, homemade noodles, apple dumplings, and much more.
