All officials elected in Hundred municipal election June 14 were sworn into office Monday night.

The new members on council are Charles L. Himelrick and Brian Bartlett. Interestingly, Bartlett is the grandson of Ruth Jones, the first female councilperson in Hundred. She was elected to the post in the late 1970s and served for several years. Her daughter and Bartlett’s mother, Sharon Bartlett, said, “She definitely would be very, very proud of him.”

The two new members join incumbents Josh Cecil, Robert Sigley, and Johanna Lemasters. Mayor Charles Sine and Recorder Sherry Hayes were also re-elected. The new leaders being their terms on July 1. The next council meeting will be July 18 at 7 p.m.

Also Monday, the council canvassed the votes of the election. After Hayes verbally read each ballot and the current councilmembers tallied the votes, some discrepancies were found. Sine received 41 votes instead of 43; Hayes 65, not 67; and councilmembers Bartlett and Himelrick received 59 and 42, respectively, instead of 61 and 43. Even with the variances, the outcomes of all the races would remain the same.

However, Hayes later discovered that two absentee ballots were not included in the canvassing. When they were, the votes were as originally reported.
