Judge Modifies Webber’s Bond

James Russell Webber, 66, of 83 Northgate Drive in New Martinsville, has posted bail following his latest hearing in Wetzel County Magistrate Court. At the motions hearing held Jan. 5 the bond previously granted to Webber ($250,000 cash only) was modified to a justification of sureties in the amount of $286,300 in real property.

Webber was released on bond with several conditions. As outlined in Magistrate Court Jan. 5, Webber was authorized to voluntarily become an in-patient at Northwood Health Systems in Wheeling. Also, Webber was ordered to give 48-hours’ notice to the court, the prosecutor, and Adult Probation Officer John Lantz before leaving Northwood, and furthermore would submit to electronic home confinement at his home address within six hours of leaving Northwood.

Webber was arrested Dec. 8 for one count of solicitation of murder. Webber allegedly attempted to hire a man to murder several individuals in the Ohio Valley area due to a supposed grudge over roofing work done years ago.
