From H. John Rogers
As a fervent ex post facto supporter, fiscal conservative, and one who if given a barge-full of Chinese tea would take it to the old ferry landing and dump it in the Ohio River, I would ask:
Why does the window at the New Martinsville Post Office close on Thursday afternoons?
Some 40 or 50 years ago, the farmers would come into town on Friday night, so the stores stayed open. Our then golden-hearted merchants would give employees Thursday afternoon off.
Don’t let them tell you this is local practice. Some banks close but they leave the drive-thru open.
This is just a small instance of where bureaucrats serve themselves, not hoi polloi!
