From The NMVFD
On Sunday, December 12, 2010, New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Fighters and their families were gathered for their annual Christmas Dinner. Each of the fire fighter’s children were given a gift from their wish list to Santa and Santa made a special trip all the way from the North Pole to the Ohio Street Station to attend the gathering and surprise the children. Everyone enjoyed a dinner of roasted turkey, honey baked ham, noodles, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, stuffing, gravy, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw; finished off with a delicious fire truck cake and an assortment of drinks.
Each fire fighter was also given a door prize ranging from a host of donated and/or specially priced items from local businesses.
The dinner is done annually to thank the fire fighters and their families for their incredible sacrifices to serve our community in times of emergencies and disaster.
We would like to thank the following businesses and people for their help, donations, discounts, and assistance in making the dinner a wonderful success again in 2010: Witschey’s, Ace Hardware, Bridgeport Equipment, People’s Bank, Progressive Bank, Earl Yost, Auto Zone, Sunoco, GoMart, Dr. Harshburger, and The New Martinsville Church of God.
We would also like to thank: Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes and the First Christian Church for their gifts of glad tidings during the holiday week.
With our sincere appreciation,
The New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department
