From George Antonik
This past summer was one of the hottest on record, and the forecast is more to come. It was sad to see most of our summer water venues unavailable. The kids’ pool in Brooklyn gone (removed), the kids’ pool and Bruce pool at New Martinsville Park closed. It is neither convenient or safe for our young people from Brooklyn and the downtown area to travel to the Lewis Wetzel pool in Steelton. Eighteen days of 90 degree plus temperatures, and our kids have no place to cool off. All the mayor and city council want to talk about is riverfront development and $5 million amphitheaters. Give us a break. We need to preserve what we have, and less on projects that we can’t afford and don’t need.
