Vandals Strike Paden Fork Chapel Building

By Staff | Nov 3, 2010

The Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate an incident of vandalism to the exterior of Paden Fork Chapel Christian Church that occurred over the weekend.

Corporal Mike Koontz is investigating the incident that took place sometime between 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday morning when church members began to arrive for the day’s Bible school and worship. Derogatory religious and racist words were painted with black spray paint on the side of the church-in a location visible from Paden Fork Road. Also, 666, a pentagram, and another drawing were included with the offensive graffiti.

“This is uncalled for. You don’t desecrate a church,” said Sheriff James Hoskins. “There are some things that are sacred, like a church or any symbol of our nation.” Anyone having any information is encouraged to contact the Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office at 304-455-2430. “I hope we can find out who did this,” said Hoskins.
