From Tabitha Harris
I would like to let everyone know that if they would like to send a Christmas card or letter to a United States service member I will be collecting them from Oct. 1 until Nov. 30. There will be drop boxes at Witschey’s in Middlebourne and New Martinsville, Lucy’s Restaurant in Middlebourne, and Convenient in Paden City.
For security purposes please do not include any contact information or they will not be sent, you may sign them only. No need for an envelope as they will be sent in a large package to a Chaplain overseas to be handed out to the troops.
There are lots of soldiers that need support so feel free to send as many as you like. If you would like to personally correspond with a service member you may contact Adopt-a-Platoon at www.adoptaplatoon.org. You can adopt or pen pal as an individual or a group (youth group, school, church, business, etc.).
All of our troops need to know we care, and not everyone who is deployed gets mail. If they can risk everything in the name of freedom, the least we can do is say, “Thank you.” I would also like to say “Thank you” to all of the businesses that showed their support and let me put boxes in their stores. I wouldn’t be able to do this without their cooperation.
