Council Changes Free Rental Policy
At the Pine Grove Town Council meeting Monday evening the council discussed a situation they all hoped wouldn’t be on the agenda. After discovering the Byrd Center was not cleaned by a group generously loaned the use of the center free of charge, the council agreed to require a cleaning deposit of $100 effective immediately on all future events not yet scheduled.
The council underlined there would be no exceptions to the deposit. Anyone renting or loaned the space will need to provide a $100 check to be held until the Monday following the event for inspection.
If the space is not cleaned properly or prior arrangements for cleaning have not been made, the deposit will be used by the Town of Pine Grove to pay for proper cleaning.
In regard to loaning the Byrd Center, the council approved the Friends of the Library to use the upstairs of the center free of charge on Nov. 20 for a scrapbooking party from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Town council also approved the list of Board of Trustees and their terms for the Pine Grove Public Library. They are as follows: Steve Wilson, 2014; Lucille Price, 2013; Dixie Holbert, 2012; Kristie Early, 2015; and Weldon Williams, 2011.
Lastly the council wished to remind residents that Halloween trick-or-treating will be held Oct. 30 from 4-6 p.m.
