The Ohio Valley Community Credit Union celebrated 50 years of service with a special event Monday at their main office in Hannibal.

The event was attended by credit union members and several dignitaries who gave speeches congratulating the institution on its anniversary.

“We’re very proud of you, the staff, and the board of managers,” said Monroe County Commissioner John Pyles.

Chris Predieri of the Ohio Credit Union League cited OVCCU for their “continued leadership and great stewardship.”

Monroe County Chamber of Commerce President Rusty Atkinson thanked the credit union for bringing employment opportunities, economic stability, and great service to Monroe County.

The employees of the Ohio Valley Community Credit Union present pediatric backboards to each of the Emergency Medical Services in Monroe County: Clarington, Antioch, Beallsville, Sardis, Woodsfield, and Bethel. The employees conducted various fund raisers to be able to purchase the EMS equipment.

Finally, Robyn McGuire, OVCCU Human Resources/Marketing Manager, highlighted the group’s great staff and the special endeavors they have made to help celebrate the 50th anniversary. They held a Community Shred Day with the help of Belco Works, a drive for animal shelters, medical services health fair, and poster contest.

They also conducted various activities such as bake sales, tacos in a bag sales, a basket contest and raffle, and ice cream sundae Fridays to raise money for a special community project. The employees raised enough money to purchase six pediatric backboards, one for each of the Emergency Medical Services in Monroe County: Clarington, Antioch, Beallsville, Sardis, Woodsfield, and Bethel.
