We are writing this heartfelt thank you to the New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department who responded so promptly on Labor Day morning to our call of smoke coming from our house.

It turned out to be the wood mulch against our house had somehow ignited and was smoldering and smoke was billowing from it. If our house had not been made of stone or we had not been home, things could have been a lot worse.

To each one of you volunteers who take time away from your family to help others, especially on a holiday at that, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your promptness, professionalism, and kindness will be something we never forget.

We have always tried to support our local volunteers and we will definitely continue to do so. Thank you all for what you do and how proudly you do it.

Respectfully,

Cindy and Todd Bates
