End Of Summer Blues

By Staff | Aug 18, 2010

It seems like every year by about mid-August I get in a funk. I’m just irritable and not very happy. Honestly, I don’t like being this way as I’m generally an upbeat person.

This year I’ve noticed the pattern and I have been trying to figure out what triggers this emotional slump.

I think it probably has a lot to do with the oppressive heat and humidity.

I also think Town & Country Days may unwittingly add to my displeasure-the very thing the fair tries to dispel. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fair. It has always been a big part of my life. However, I think in the end the busy week makes me tired and irritable.

Then there is also the fact that summer is coming to an end. I feel the need to scramble and squeeze in every last bit of outdoor fun. I’m not sure why that’s the case because, in my opinion, the fall is a much better time for outdoor pursuits.

However, some summer activities such as pools, water parks, and amusement parks are closing or at least scaling back hours soon.

Then I think I might also suffer from too much work and not enough play, making Amy an irritable girl. While other people are often taking trips to the beach or some other relaxing locale, I’m still here. My and my husband’s schedules just don’t seem to allow for an extended vacation.

So here I am, in a bit of a funk, hoping I’ll shake it before too long. In the meantime, I hope my mood isn’t contagious and you enjoy what’s left of summer.
