Byrd Center Will Receive Some Stimulus Funding

By Staff | Aug 11, 2010

At the Pine Grove Town Council meeting held Monday evening, it was made known that the council will receive $30,000 in stimulus money to replace the windows, doors, and furnace in the Byrd Center. Belomar Regional Council will handle bidding out the projects and the council has agreed to match awarded funds by 10 percent.

In other old business, the council received a letter from People’s Bank regarding the loan on the town’s water plant. The letter stated that the bank would extend the loan and that all conditions and provisions to the loan would remain unchanged. With this news, the council agreed hiring a bonding council to refinance the water plant as previously planned was unnecessary at this point. Regarding finances, the council agreed to borrow $10,000 from WesBanco for the lease purchase of a dump truck and hobber from the state.

A public meeting is planned for Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Byrd Center regarding the sewer system improvements underway for Pine Grove. A representative from Belomar Regional Council and Dana Indermuhle of Swiss Valley Associates will provide the updated report.

Under new business, the council discussed hearing many recent complaints pertaining to Zito Media’s cable television service. The council moved to contact the company to discuss the voiced problems and work toward a solution.
