Jacksonburg Homecoming Set For Saturday
This year’s Jacksonburg Homecoming celebration will be held Saturday. Hosted by the Jacksonburg Volunteer Fire Department, the festivities begin with the parade line-up at 11 a.m. on state Route 20.
The parade begins at noon and will include firetrucks, cars, bicycles, floats, and more. Trophies will be handed out for the newest, oldest, and Chief’s Choice firetrucks, and a plaque will be given to the oldest firefighter.
All festivities will be held at the new fire department and adjacent park. Activities include Bingo, a craft and quilt show, live music, and concessions such as the VFD’s famed kielbasas and corn dogs along with homemade pies from the community’s best bakers. The Short Line Lions Club will host carnival games and the Wetzel County 4-H will put on a dime pitch. Other games planned include a horseshoe and cornhole tournament, and an air/water slide for kids. The Air-Evac Life Team is planned to make an appearance at 3 p.m. and there will also be all-day door prizes, raffles, and live music.
As the biggest fund raiser for the Jacksonburg VFD each year, the department and the community have pulled out all the stops for this day-long celebration and reunion. Several area bands are scheduled from noon to 10 p.m.:
Bates Ministries gospel music from noon to 3 p.m.; Outsrument, an eclectic band from the Parkersburg area will perform from 3-6 p.m.; and local bands Hundred Miles from Nowhere and Not So Rich and Famous will perform from 6-8 p.m. and 8-10 p.m., respectively. Come out to Jacksonburg Saturday to support the Jacksonburg VFD and enjoy an exciting day of food, fun, and friends.
