Karl Grants Striegle Contact With Children

By Staff | Jul 20, 2010

In a special motions hearing on July 16, Judge Mark A. Karl heard two cases in Wetzel County Circuit Court.

Lujuana Louise Striegle, 22, of 187 North State Route 2, New Martinsville, was present for a petition to modify the terms and conditions of probation. Striegle requested she be allowed to continue contact with her children. The state and Judge Karl had no objections to the request and Judge Karl therefore modified her probation terms and conditions in her favor.

On April 29 Striegle pleaded guilty to four felony counts.

Three counts are said to have occurred on or about Jan. 12.

Count one is felony offense of possession of a controlled substance (heroin) with intent to deliver.

Counts two and three of her three-count indictment are felony offense possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to deliver, and felony offense child neglect creating risk of serious bodily injury or death.

Her separate indictment, felony offense of delivery of a controlled substance (Vicodin), is to have occurred on or about Dec. 21, 2009.

Judge David Hummel sentenced Striegle to the West Virginia State Penitentiary for Women for a concurrent sentence of one to 15 years. Striegle was given credit for 50 days served. Furthermore, her sentence was suspended to five years on adult supervised probation, successful completion of the drug court program, and registry to the child abuse and neglect registry for the rest of her life.

Lastly, a guilty plea to an information was entered by Ronnie Dale Bumgardner, 27, of 187 N. state Route 2, Apt. B-105, New Martinsville, before Judge Karl on Friday. Bumgardner pleaded guilty to grand larceny involving a truck and was sentenced to one to 10 years in the West Virginia State Penitentiary for Men, with credit for 70 days served.

Judge Karl further ordered Bumgardner to pay restitution to the victim and pay all court costs. As per a plea agreement, three cases bound over to the grand jury on Bumgardner were dismissed.

Bumgardner was remanded to Northern Regional Jail.
