Ice Cream Social Had To Be Rescheduled

By Staff | Jul 14, 2010

Johnny Mensore will perform “Music In The Park” series in Paden City Park on July 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The ice cream social that was to take place July 8 at the kick off to the fourth annual “Music In The Park” series in Paden City Park had to be postponed to July 22.

However, the concerts will still take place as planned, every Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. until Sept. 2.

The next concert will be Johnny Mensore on July 15, Hillbilly Haven Band on July 22, Dale Lancaster on July 29, Old School on Aug. 5, Endless Shadows on Aug. 12, Rockin’ Country on Aug. 19, Pete Lauderman on Aug. 26, and True Country on Sept. 2. If interested in participating in next year’s concert series, please contact Susan Glover at 304-266-5031.

The ice cream social on July 22 will begin at 6:15 p.m. Ice cream, pie, brownies, cookies, drinks, etc. will be available for purchase throughout the live entertainment. Anyone interested in donating baked goods for sale at the ice cream social should contact Susan Glover at 304-266-5031.

Finally, to close out the concert series this year, the commission will hold its fourth annual Community Steak Fry beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 in the large shelter at the park. Tickets will be on sale at WesBanco Bank in Paden City, the Paden City Recorder’s Office, and at the concerts held each Thursday night through Aug. 26. The cost of a steak dinner-a 12-ounce sirloin steak, baked potato, dinner roll, salad, apple pie and drink-is $15 per person. The cost of a hot dog dinner-a hot dog, baked potato, dinner roll, salad, apple pie, and drink-is $7 per person.

The park commissioners would like to thank all the local citizens, volunteers, and sponsors for making both the ice cream social and steak fry a success year in and year out.

All proceeds from the events will continue to go directly toward ongoing improvements and additions to the park and public pool. Since beginning their fund raising efforts in 2007, the commission has raised over $20,000 in donations, grants, etc. toward pool and playground improvements, including two new playground set for children, a new double pool slide, the addition of a horse shoe pitching area, as well as many other structural and safety updates to the public pool.

Park Commissioner Mark Glover said, “The commission is constantly looking for new projects and ways to improve our park and make it a destination for not only the citizens of Paden City, but surrounding communities as well. We still have a number of improvements and upgrades that we hope to achieve in the years to come, and the ongoing fund raising efforts, as well as community support have been vital to our success to date and continued success in the future.”
