I am writing hoping to influence the people responsible for our celebrations here in New Martinsville and the rest of Wetzel County not to use fireworks in our various celebrations.

I am not a dog owner but I have friends and neighbors who are and it is very distressing to see the pain and fear the fireworks cause in the animals.

We can have very nice observances of special holidays without the fireworks. They only last a little while but the hurt and damage they do last a long time.

Dogs dig out of their pens, run away, etc.
