Valedictorian Marlayna Jordan Marconi

The River High School Class of 2010 will hold its graduation ceremony on June 5 at Flannery Field at 7 p.m. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held in the R.L. Potts Gymnasium. The class cordially invites parents, grandparents, family members, and friends to celebrate this joyous occasion with them.

The valedictorian of the class of 2010 is Marlayna Jordan Marconi. Marley is the daughter of Lea Ladyga of Powhatan and William Marconi of Pataskala, Ohio. She is president of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Vice-President, and Spanish Club Treasurer. Her future plans are to attend Ohio State University and major in chemistry/pre-dentistry.

The vocational valedictorian is Whitney Jane Nicole Hammel, the daughter of Herman and Denise Hammel of Sardis. Whitney is a member of the Vocational Technical Honor Society, a Kiwanis Scholar, and played basketball for four years. She attends the Church of Christ of Fly. Whitney plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College.

Kyrstin Ritchie will serve as the salutatorian for the class of 2010. She is the daughter of Eric and Patti Ritchie of Duffy. She has been a part of the Drama Team for three years, which placed first at teen talent for human video, a member of Teen Talent, where she placed second in photography, and a member of the Physics Club. She plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College and major in medical assisting.

Desiree Autumn Hinkle, the daughter of Franklin Hinkle, and Cheryl Volin of Sardis, will offer the invocation. Desi is a Regional Scholar, PVC Scholar Athlete, and a four-year Kiwanis Scholar. She attends the Immanuel Baptist Church in New Martinsville. Desi plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College and major in early childhood care and education.

Vocational Valedictorian Whitney Jane Nicole Hammel

Rachal Raychele Beisel, the daughter of Pamela Beisel of Sardis and Forrest Cassel of Lancaster, Ohio, will deliver the welcome. Rachal is a member of the National Honor Society, a PVC athlete scholar, and a Junior class vice president. Rachal is attending Fairmont State University to major in the nursing program.

Stephen Blake Price will introduce the special guests at River’s graduation ceremony. Blake is the son of Stephen Bradley Price of Sardis and Kimberly Sue Kraushaar of West Alexander, Pa. Blake has played baseball for four years, has been an Academic Achiever for four years, and was a member of the National Honor Society his Junior and Senior year. Blake plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College and major in computer information technology and then complete a Bachelor’s program in computer science at Wheeling Jesuit University.

Class President Stevie Lynn Saner, daughter of Scott and Sherrie Saner of Powhatan, will lead in the turning of the tassels. She was president of the Junior and Senior class, a Girls State Delegate, and a member of the River Student Council. She attends the Powhatan Methodist Church. Stevie plans to attend Ohio University Eastern and transfer to the University of Akron to major in exercise physiology/science.

Ashlee Nicole Henry will provide the benediction. She is the daughter of Michael and Deanna Henry of Powhatan. She was a member of the West Virginia North Nazarene Devotion Impact Choir for three years, Physics Club President, and a member of the Math League. Ashlee plans to attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University and major in accounting. She attends Moundsville Church of the Nazarene.

Dr. Vince Monseau, principal of River High School, will present the class. Board members Teresa Gallagher and Ron Winkler will award the diplomas.
