I would like to thank all of those who participated in the first annual 5K race on Sunday, April 25th, presented by the New Martinsville Running Club (NMRC). We had a good time and money was raised to support our new club of third through eighth graders at New Martinsville School.

Also, I would like to thank our major sponsorswhich includes the West Virginia National Guard (through liaisonSergeant Chuck McIlvain) who supplied all of the T-shirts awarded to participants; Quinet’s Court Restaurantand the personal support of Matt Quinet (who incidentally won the race!);and the Technology Students Association (TSA) of Magnolia High School that designed and produced the awards with their advisor Mr. Dave Kimball.

In addition, thanks go to the Boy Scout troop under the direction of Chuck McIlvainwho helped monitor the course and direct traffic. Other sponsors through money or items donated were the following: WesBanco, Witschey’s Market,ACE Hardware, The Flower Basket and Gift Shop, Wayside Furniture, Bruce Bowling Lanes, Autozone, Carter Lumber, Barista’s, and Burger King.
