Hundred Looks To Replace A Councilmember
During Hundred’s Town Council meeting on April 5, the council accepted Jean McClelland’s resignation from council membership. The council now has an open council seat and is accepting nominations for a new council member. Those interested in filling this membership should contact the municipal building at 304-775-5131 by May 1. To hold a council position, persons interested must be a resident of the municipality.
Other news from the meeting held April 5 include this year’s town spring clean up. The spring clean up will be May 3-5 and the council agreed to get two dumpsters from Allen’s Waste Water at $350 each. It was stated this option is more cost efficient to the council than taking trash to the landfill on their own. The dumpsters have been ordered and will arrive next Monday.
At the town council meeting held April 19 a representative from Riverside Construction was present to discuss options in rebuilding the rest of the Belmont Street wall. Riverside Construction repaired, for a very reasonable price, the portion that recently crumbled and offered to finish the wall if the council approved. The council will continue to look into the best way to repair the entire wall and look into estimates for such repair.
In related news, the lights at the football field have been safely taken down. They were damaged by this winter’s heavy snow. The council is now looking into estimates from various sources to get replacement lights.
Lastly, it was noted the 2010-2011 budget was accepted by the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office. The council met April 20 to lay the levy.
