From Sharol Stine
Gary and Carolyn Walker, residents of St. Marc, Haiti, and Paden City, would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanksgiving for all the churches and people in the Ohio Valley and beyond who have rallied to help the Haitian people during this time of recovery from the horrific earthquake that struck them on Jan. 12, 2010.
Your outpouring of generosity and prayer has been overwhelming and they know they could not keep up the pace they are going if it were not for you. They are currently funding the building of a new church destroyed in the quake, two young boys who are without homes or family due to the quake are living with them, and they are feeding and clothing many people. They are accepting more students into El Shaddai Learning Center who have come to St. Marc from Port au Prince. They are also securing their own school wall to make it earthquake safe.
The Walkers realize the future is uncertain as to what they will be doing, but they know it will pertain to helping victims relocate and insuring children are at safe harbor from the streets of Port au Prince. Everyday brings a new challenge and everyday there is a child in need. They reported that at this writing they were called from a hospital in Port to accept a four-year-old child with an amputated arm. He has no place to live. Multiply this by thousands and you will get an idea of the enormous job ahead. The Walkers are planning to meet these needs which will take a lot of money. Thank you for the confidence you’ve placed in Gary and Carolyn to carry out this God-given task.
