This was posted by one of my friends on Facebook Monday and I thought it was a great quote, as are many things said by King.

It is so very true. Often people don’t serve because they think, sometimes correctly, that they don’t have the time to devote to a project. But many times what keeps people from serving is not knowing how they could help.

When I was reading the press release printed on page 6A about Hospice Care seeking volunteers I was intrigued by their statement, “Each person is created with special gifts and skills that are unique to them, but it is almost impossible not to find a place for your gifts at Hospice Care.”

I found that a bit hard to believe. I don’t think that kind of volunteering would be for me, but then I kept reading all of their examples for service and could see exactly how I could fit in. However, I really don’t have the time to volunteer for anything else. (Did you hear that sigh of relief from my husband when he read that last sentence?)

But the point is that each person does have a gift. A friend of mine is a great dish washer. She really is. She does it joyfully as she serves others at church and probably other places where I don’t witness her giving.

We each have a gift or ability. What is yours?

Yes, you have one. We all do.
