Fire Almost Destroys Camp

By Staff | Jan 13, 2010

A fire nearly destroyed an unoccupied dwelling on Laughlin Ridge in the afternoon of Jan. 6. The camp was approximately a half-mile from Bebee and a quarter-mile from Friendship Ridge. Fortunately no one was living at the camp at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the incident. Some contents from the dwelling were saved. Firefighter Raymond Renaud of the Grandview Volunteer Fire Department responded first to the call for the fully engulfed fire at the camp. Grandview, Silver Hill, and New Martinsville Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the call as well as the Grandview EMS for extra coverage. Additionally, the Paden City Volunteer Fire Department provided coverage for New Martinsville’s department while they were on the call. (Photo provided)
