Art Exhibit Is Scheduled
The Dec. 6 exhibit at the Francis Creative Arts Center in New Martinsville will feature unique nativity scenes from around the area and around the world.
Barb Thomaselli, exhibits chair for ArtsLink, the arts council of Wetzel and Tyler counties, is inviting the public to lend their special Christmas displays to the exhibit, which will be open from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 6.
“While our focus is nativity scenes, we welcome any unique display that is special to our area residents, such as village scenes, heritage mementos, and hand-crafted items appropriate to the season,” she said.
The number of exhibits may be limited to space and appropriateness, and Thomaselli will review each contribution before including it in the display.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to share their special holiday traditions and those from around the world,” she said. “The beauty of art is sharing it with others.”
Those who are interested in sharing their displays may contact Thomaselli at 304-758-4293 or the ArtsLink office at 304-455-2278. Individuals displaying their mementos should take them to the Francis Creative Arts Center on Dec. 5 between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m.
This display will be held for one day only and contributors may take their items home following the show. Visitors to the exhibit will be treated to light refreshments and will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the self-guided Holiday House Tour which will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 6 p.m.
The Francis Creative Arts Center is located at the corner of Maple Avenue and Washington Street in New Martinsville, next to the New Martinsville Public Library.
ArtsLink is committed to providing universal accessibility wherever possible. Persons with special needs may call 304-455-2278 to request assistance.
