Halloween Happenings

Many local children got a jump on trick or treating when they attended the Haunted Trail in Paden City Monday evening. For a small fee the ghosts and goblins were able to trick or treat at several creepily decorated stations in the city park and then cap their walk off with a hay ride. Haunted House/Hayride
A haunted house and hayride will be held at St. Joseph’s Hall on Oct. 29, 6:30-10 p.m.; and Oct. 30, 7-11 p.m. There will be games, food, hayrides, costume judging, candy, concessions, and prizes. For more information call 304-447-3999.
Halloween Judging
The Paden City American Legion Auxiliary Unit 86 will be hosting their annual Halloween treat giveaway on Oct. 29 at 5:30 p.m., just prior to the town’s official trick or treat time. There will also be judging done for the best costumes.The event will be held on Main Street in front of the Paden City Fire Hall.
Trick Or Treat
The communities of both New Martinsville and Paden City will observe trick or treat Oct. 29 from 6-7 p.m. Pine Grove will also observe trick or treat on Oct. 29, but from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Haunted House
Shortline Lions Club will be sponsoring a haunted house at Reader Park Oct. 30 and 31 from 7-11 p.m. The cost is $4 per person.
Trick or treat in Hundred will be Oct. 31, 6-7:30 p.m. Please remember to only visit the houses with the porch lights on.
Costume Parade
A costume parade will be part of the Chili-Fest in downtown New Martinsville Oct. 31 at noon. There are prizes for the best costumes and afterward the children can trick or treat from the vendors set up on the street.
The town of Smithfield will be holding trick or treat Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m. After trick or treating, citizens are invited to come to the city park for a night of fun.
The town, along with the St. James United Methodist Church, will be having a Halloween party for all from 6-10 p.m. There will be food, games, prizes, dancing 50-50, door prizes, and much more. Contact the town, 304-334-5641, for more information.
Wyldlife Halloween Party
Wyldlife (grades six through eight) is kicking off this season with a Halloween party at the Clegg’s House, 345 Clark St., New Martinsville, on Oct. 31, 7-9 p.m. Come dressed up in a crazy costume for some good food and fun. For more information call Whitney Clegg at 304-455-5624.
Halloween Dance
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #81 of Pine Grove will be hosting a Halloween Dance on Oct. 31. The disc jockey will begin playing music at 9 p.m. There will be a costume contest, Chinese auction, 50-50 drawing, and food. Admission is $5 per person.
No one under 21 will be permitted. Everyone must have ID; no exceptions.
