Auction Benefits House

By Staff | Oct 28, 2009

The Wetzel County Farm Bureau will be sponsoring their ninth annual Ronald McDonald House Charity Auction Saturday during the Chili-Fest in downtown New Martinsville. The auction will be held in the city building beginning at 1 p.m. Auctioneer for this year’s event is Terry Cozart. Items and listings can be seen on the Cozart Auctioneering Web page. Anyone wishing to donate to the auction can contact Lynn Adams at 889-2473 or Nell Yeager at 386-4567. Anyone with pop tabs or empty printer cartridges can drop them off that day also.

The proceeds from this auction go to purchasing groceries and other needed items for the Morgantown Ronald McDonald House. “Each year the RMH sends out a wish list to our group and we use the money raised to purchase those items and then deliver them to the house,” said Nell Yeager of the WCFB. “We have been doing Food Check-Out Day since its conception using money from the Town and Country Days beef dinner we used to have and then in 2000 decided to hold the auction to raise the money.”

“In addition to the groceries, supplies, toys and art sets, pop tabs, and printer cartridges, the group also makes several youth quilts, each year to donate,” added Yeager. The Farm Bureau would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported the auction over the past nine years, you have helped make the lives of those who use the house more comfortable.”
