What Book Hooked You?

By Staff | Sep 30, 2009

Here is a great opportunity to get 50,000 new books into the hands of low-income youth in West Virginia. All you need to do is go online to www.firstbook.org/whatbook and vote for the Mountain State. But you have to hurry because the voting ends today, Sept. 30.

It takes just a couple minutes to do and it could make a big difference in the literacy of this state.

First Book, a non-profit organization that has distributed more than 65 million free and low cost books, simply asks that you share the name of what book got you hooked on reading and why. After that step you then vote for your favorite state (May I suggest West Virginia?), and put your first name and e-mail address in the required fields and submit. (Don’t forget to uncheck the e-mail newsletter box if you don’t want to get that feature.) It really is simple.

Some people are afraid of getting junk e-mail from such contests. I say that’s what my delete button is for. I delete many e-mails everyday, what’s a few more?

I shared my love as a child for The Penguin Who Hated The Cold. I guess it was a favorite because it was funny. What was your beloved tome? Well share it and vote! When I checked Tuesday night, West Virginia ranked seventh among the 50 states, so get on there and vote today!
