From Dan Curry

I would like to thank the Wetzel County Sheriff’s department for the favor that they did for me on June 9.

As I was on my way to work I was pulled over due to a burned out bulb over my license plate. As officer Scott went about checking my papers and license he discovered that my operator’s license had expired. I am certainly glad he discovered it as certain times during the year we travel south through Virginia and the Carolina’s. Imagine what would have have happened should I have been pulled over by a Virginia State Trooper. It is hard to tell what the results could have been.

One thing that bothers me though is, why didn’t officer Scott check out the rest of the lights on my vehicle? Oh, perhaps with all the drugs and crime in the county his mind was on other things.

Since the time that I was stopped I have noticed numerous vehicles around Hundred with violations such as mine, plus burned out brake and rear lights, headlights, etc.

Some people I have talked to, including an attorney, believe that I was set up. Although I find that hard to consider possible, I believe that they were out trying to find things wrong with the citizens’ vehicles so that they could keep them operating as safely as possible.

Again, my thanks to those so concerned about the well being of the citizens of Wetzel County.

Have a nice day,

Dan Curry
