Wetzel County awakened to startling news Tuesday with the report of a body found in Lewis Wetzel Park in the Steelton section of New Martinsville. This is the second time a body has been found in New Martinsville this year. It may look like the crime rate here has skyrocketed, but the first death was ruled accidental and natural, and police are not treating this week’s as a homicide.

While the deaths are tragic, we hope people do not get the idea that New Martinsville is an unusually dangerous place-just perhaps a place with unfortunate events of late.
