Larsen Remains On The Job

By Staff | Jul 22, 2009

Despite a decision by New Martinsville City Council to suspend Patrolman Don Larsen for 30 days without pay for allegedly using excessive force on a handcuffed individual at the Wal-Mart parking lot, he remains on the job.

Police Chief Tim Cecil explained that Larsen remains on duty until his grievance can be heard before the hearing board through Civil Service Rights. The board will consist of two officers who will hear the grievance. “Their decision is final and binding,” said Cecil.

If the board’s decision is not to their liking, Larsen or Cecil can appeal the decision through an outlined process.

“Council has nothing to do with it-as I said before,” noted Cecil.
