A Memorable Act At Saturday’s Festival

The Festival of Memories held in downtown New Martinsville Saturday was a great success. The streets were full of people enjoying the activities, music, food, and items from vendors. Just before the firework finale, the day was capped by the drawing of wristband numbers that facilitated the giving away of numerous prizes including many children’s bicycles and other outdoor toys. The children and adults also filled the Lincoln Theater for Bill Stokes’ magic show. Here he is seen, in the blue, presenting a trick that suspended Nerissa Renee Cappell, seven, of Jacksonville, Fla., in mid-air. Assisting Stokes are his wife Charlene, left, and daughter Miranda, right. Like all of the activities at the Festival of Memories, the show was free.
