Pine Grove Addresses Issues

By Staff | Jul 15, 2009

Pine Grove City Recorder Kim Bates asked council Monday for a separate reserve fund for Sanitation. She reported to council members that a grant is being worked on that might help with the purchase of a new garbage truck in the near future. She reminded council that it might take up to a year for the grant, but she would like to create a separate account for this.

Council member Tom Dulaney thought this was a good idea and mentioned that a separate account might be needed anyway for the grant process. The council agreed and passed a motion to set up the account.

Council discussed the purchase of two flashing lights to put on top of city vehicles. Dulaney stated, “The garbage truck definitely needs one first.”

Pine Grove Mayor Dave Barr told council that Dave Williams, council member, did a lot of driving in his own vehicle to get things accomplished for the Fourth of July, including trips to Ohio and more. She asked council members if they would be willing to compensate him with $150 from the Fourth of July account. Council members agreed.

Roy Justice, present at the meeting, noted that Williams did a great job for the Fourth of July in Pine Grove.

“The sewer plant also needs a clothes dryer,” Bates reported to council. Barr said he would look into getting a used one, possibly at an auction.

Dulaney noted he was glad the street repair was done in front of the post office.

In other matters, Barr reported on the Summer Youth Workers in the area and he would like to have a pizza party for the teenagers on their last day. Council agreed to purchase the pizzas.
