From Mary Rose Yoho
The American Legion Auxiliary Marne Unit #28 of New Martinsville would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” for helping to make our Annual Poppy Day such a success. It was held on May 30, 2009, at Witschey’s from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The unit would like to thank the volunteers that helped distribute Poppies: Lynn Hohman, Mary Rose Yoho, Patricia Wade, and Paulette Anderson. We would like to thank Witschey’s for allowing us to hold Poppy Day at their front door. We want to extend a big thank you to the community for their generous donations made by so many throughout the day. You are the ones that made this such a success.
The money collected this day will be use totally for veterans. A small portion is donated to the four VA Medical Centers in West Virginia and the WV Veterans Home in Barboursville, W.Va. The rest stays here at home. Throughout the year we do comfort baskets for all veterans in the New Martinsville Health Care Center and in the Sistersville Health Care Center. We also do fruit baskets for veterans that are shut-in at their homes due to health reasons.
All of these projects are only made possible by the continuing support of our community on Poppy Day. Thank you all again. The veterans truly appreciate all that we do for them.
