Williams Seeks Seat On Council

By Staff | Jun 3, 2009

In the municipal race in Pine Grove, only one candidate responded to our questionnaire: David L. Williams, incumbent candidate for council.

(Editor’s note: The Wetzel County sent questionnaires to candidates in all municipal races. The responses we received follow.)

If you were given $50,000 to spend on the city in any manner you wish, what would you do with it and why?

Williams: I would take the $50,000 and split it up into all the different departments in the town. That way whenever a problem pops up we wouldn’t have to worry how we will pay for the parts or borrow from another department.

Name one city issue you would like to see addressed and how specifically you would work to rectify it.

Williams: The way people take advantage of not having any law enforcement in the town. Things are getting destroyed for no reason, speeding on the back streets, noise all hours of the night. Would love to be able to get a grant or any assistance of a police officer.

What makes you the best person for this job?

Williams: I was raised in this town and take pride in living here. I care what happens here and just want to do whatever I can do for the best of the people. I’m not on the council to make friends, but I do want to keep the ones I have. I’m young and eager to do whatever it takes to be fair and helpful to our community.
