As some of you may remember, a NASA astronaut, Chris Cassidy, mission specialist, visited New Martinsville School last May. As a former Navy Seal, he was selected in May 2004 to be trained as an astronaut.

He will be one of the seven-person crew to be on the STS-137 16-day mission, scheduled for June 13. This is Mr. Cassidy’s first mission to the space station, where he will be performing three of the five scheduled spacewalks.

We will be attending the lift off as invited guests of Chris Cassidy. As you may expect, we are excited and honored to be part of the day’s activities. Please keep Chris, and all others involved, in your prayers.
