Jim and Matilda Lower today

Jim and Matilda Lower of New Matamoras, formerly of Sardis, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house given by their family on June 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the New Matamoras Elementary School.

They were united in marriage June 11, 1959, at the First Baptist Church, New Martinsville, by the Rev. Warren B. Moyer.

Matilda is the daughter of the late Carl and Willa Yocum Ebert of Doolin Route, New Martinsville.

Jim is the son of the late John H. and Maude Huffman Lower of Sardis, formerly of Toronto, Ohio.

Jim is a retired electrician at Ormet Corporation; and they are the former owners of Lower’s Dairy Bar in New Matamoras and Lower’s Concessions.

They have three children, daughters Karen Berry (Bob) and Brenda Scheibelhood (Matt), both of New Martinsville, and a son, Bob (Beau) of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family requests no gifts, but cards would be appreciated.
